So here’s my short interview
with Rachel Shelley. Short, because after talking to Janina
I really didn’t think that Rachel will reveal anything
juicy about upcoming season 5:
B&TF: What is your favorite storyline
for Helena so far?
RS: My favorite, I think, was the beginning
of season 4 when I was like getting used to being poor and
also because that’s was comedy but for more dramatic
stuff probably working with Alex…Dylan.
|
B&TF: Would you like Dylan to come back?
RS: (very enthusiastically) YES
B&TF: Do you think she will come back?
RS: Better ask her…
B&TF: Oh, I will ask her…
RS: Actually ask Ilene…no one knows
B&TF: oh, I know…okay, what do you expect
to happen to Helena in season 5?
RS: Um…I don’t know…I don’t
know
B&TF: But what do you want to happen?
RS: well, she probably gonna get…um…
(pause)
B&TF: jail?
RS: (laughing) it’s possible…it is
possible
B&TF: what is it with The L Word and crime?
I mean, Bette kidnapped her baby, Helena stole the money.
RS: ah, it’s drama…we need drama.
B&TF: I know but sometimes I want to see happy
families, happy couples…
RS: yeah, but there’s no drama in that.
Why would you tune in if everyone would be just smiling all the
time, “Oh, you’re sweet…I love you too…”
(RS was mimicking some kisses)
B&TF: well, I would be happy if I’d
see Bette and Tina just watching TV.
RS: well (laughing) but you wouldn’t wanna
watch it for 50 minutes every episode…
B&T: well of course I would like to see them
also making love right then
RS: but that’s not drama…it would
be like a porn film (laughing again)
B&TF: well, tastefully made love scenes
RS: oh, tastefully made scenes…right
B&TF: but, yes, I understand what you mean
about the drama…well, okay, do they plan to have at least
one sort of a long term relationship couple?
RS: I have no idea
B&TF: have you all already had your dinner
or lunch meetings with Ilene?
RS: no, I don’t know if anyone has.
B&TF: okay…when do you start filming
again?
RS: end of May-beginning of June
B&TF: by the way, sorry that you guys didn’t
win the GLAAD Award…I really wanted to see you going on stage.
How do you feel losing to Brothers and Sisters?
RS: Yeah, we were all dressed up…oh, well,
I don’t even watch that show, do you?
B&TF: no…I only watch The L Word and
I thought that you should’ve won.
After that I thanked Rachel for taking her time to talk to me because
she needed to go, so I quickly found Alexandra Hedison and asked
if she wanted to come back. Alexandra replied that she would love
to come back but it all depends on Ilene, of course. I can honestly
say that Helena and Dylan storyline was also my favorite of all
the Helena’s stories so I would love to see Dylan back because
that storyline had a great potential.
When I finished talking and taking pictures, I went to the After
Party, which was very casual at the nearby small restaurant where
attendees and actresses could eat, drink and mingle. No one from
The L Word showed up but I had a lot of fun talking to different
people and taking pictures with the celebrities, like Meredith “Legally
Blond” Scott Lynn and Heather “Kissing Jessica Stein”
Juergensen.
Then I talked to a young man whom I saw in the lobby after the
presentation. Jennifer Beals hugged him and talked to him for awhile
so I wanted to ask him about their connection. It turned out that
this was Nolan Gerard Funk, a young Canadian actor, who appeared
in the first season of The L Word. He played a young boy who gave
Jenny a ride home after her so-called marriage and they shared some
mushrooms while Jenny was telling him her sad story. Nolan also
will be appearing in the new Lifetime romantic comedy, “My
Name is Sarah” where Jennifer Beals is playing the main character.
This movie is coming to TV in August.
The party was still going but it was time for me to go to the airport.
But my adventures are not over yet. Until there is the end of The
L Word, I will be around…traveling, interviewing, taking pictures
so I can share all of it with you.
Until next time then.
