SHOWTIME'S THE L WORD® RETURNS FOR A FOURTH SEASON
Groundbreaking Drama Series to Begin Production This Summer
LOS ANGELES, Thursday February 2 – On the heels of a year
highlighted by industry recognition and critical acclaim for its
award-winning original programming including WEEDS, HUFF® and
SLEEPER CELL, SHOWTIME has ordered a fourth season of its hit drama
series THE L WORD®, it was announced today by Robert Greenblatt,
President of Entertainment, SHOWTIME Networks Inc. All 12 new episodes
are set to begin production this summer and premiere on Showtime
in 2007.
"THE L WORD® without a doubt is one of SHOWTIME's true
signature series," said Greenblatt. "Not only is the show
— and the title — part of the pop culture, but we've seen
a ratings explosion in season three, the likes of which we would
never have predicted. Clearly something has caught fire, and we
want the fourth season in production as soon as possible."
THE L WORD®, which premiered its third season on January 8th,
is one of Showtime's most popular series, generating a large and
loyal audience, as well as critical praise for its provocative,
sexy storylines, its principal cast, and for being a magnet for
celebrated directors and guest stars. Premiering Sundays at 10PM
PT/ET with several multi-plays during the week and available on
the ever-growing SHOWTIME's On Demand service, the groundbreaking
series follows a group of Los Angeles-based friends, some of whom
are lesbians, as they navigate careers, families, friendships, inner
struggles and romantic entanglements. Created by Ilene Chaiken and
Kathy Greenberg & Michele Abbott, the series stars Jennifer
Beals, Erin Daniels, Leisha Hailey, Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner,
Katherine Moennig, Dallas Roberts, Daniela Sea, Sarah Shahi, Rachel
Shelley, and Pam Grier.

of the rare television series to transcend the medium to become
part of American popular culture, spawning dedicated fan websites

Comments: whoopi - i am so very excited and yes a bit shocked myself per the negative comments about this season so far ...i am a die hard Tibetter and own the DVD sets plus, I subscribe to showtime so, I am extremely excited that it season 4 is happening!! I hope and pray that IC will mend Tina & Bette's relationship ...she started something in S1 with these two that has not been played out fully yet ...I think she owes it to us to give that particular relationship a longer run , please!!

Comments: This has got to be the most exciting piece of entertainment news I've heard since .... oh I don't know. I've never been this ecstatic about a t.v. show ever!!! And I hardly ever watch television other than the news or perhaps a sitcom here and there.I'm a simpleton and will readily admit that I love this show regardless of the questionable storylines many fans debate over. Furthermore, I'm profoundly moved and amazed at the passion the fans invest on the show, creators, cast, and characters when skimming numerous fan websites.I'm VERY new to The L Word phenomenon--I jumped on board in late October 2005 thanks to a friend who subscribes to Showtime. I was at his apartment waiting for him to get ready for a party we were going to. While I waited, I happened upon the L Word and the rest is history. Having said this, I'm still riding on the newbie fan high and not quite the seasoned fan as many are. Regardless, I'm honored to be part of the L Word fan mass and am genuinely happy for the L Word staff/cast for having a Season 4 to look forward to. I'm eagerly looking forward as well to the rest of this season and future seasons. Not to mention, the potential for an episode "Hawaiian Style". I can only imagine the wait between seasons must be excruciating for us fans as I have yet to experience this let alone having to waiting for the next episode withing a season! Meanwhile ....Aloha Nui Loa and Congratulations all around and most especially to Showtime and The L Word crew!

Comments: I am pleased re S4, but not as pleased as I might be because of what they've done with the Bette and (particularly) Tina storyline. Love Alice (hilarious) and Shane (sweet and convincing), but hate how they've turned Tina into a bitch. She was my favourite character, but bears so little resemblance to the character she played in S1 and 2 that I'm finding it too depressing to watch. I wonder, though, if the S3 ratings have soared because of this storyline and that fans are tuning in simply because they cannot believe there won't be some kind of reconciliation between B and T? Worried, too, that it could be a valid storyline to have Bette's adoption fail, then B and T split and cover the whole issue of B not having any rights re Angelica. Do hope not! I don't think a long-term relationship need necessarily be boring or undramatic. And the love scenes between them are great, although I think the pleasure in them may have been ruined forever for me after seeing T flirt with Josh in S3 E5

Comments: Just briefly, after what we've just read in the spoilers, and despite the brilliant directing etc in Ep 5, the funny Alice lesbian vampire s/l and the Shane/Cherie sex, we are canelling our Showtime subscription first thing AM. Will post more on this later, explaining why etc, but we feel that this has actually become an incomprehensible show and actually an anti-lesbian show. If we wanted to see Tina living in the burbs with a man we could see it on 99% of the show's on TV.

Comments: im just glad its still on....about time something stays on. i dont know why people are disappointed in season 3 i mean finally a tv series about lesbians out there it was always a show about striaght people and their straight family lives and now we have a show about women like us we can see. Not every lesbian may not go thru what these characters go thru but more than 80% percent of us lesbians go thru it or some what. L-word is a show i love to make it on time after work to see it. I read somewhere on this board that livingtv in the UK has decided to drop the show, now that sucks as am from the UK myself, however, i've managed to get a hold of some s3 episodes and so far it f***ing rocks. Roll on s4 am sure I still find a way to get hold of those since my country might not show TLW anymore. Cant believe hpw uptight and selfish they are. Anyway best news of the year so far ever!!
