Feb. 8, 2006According to Nielsen Media Research, ratings
for the third season of The L Word are up substantially, already
surpassing all of Season 1 and 2. The household rating for season
2 was 0.32, while the season 3 premiere had a household rating of
0.4-an increase of 25%.
Viewership is also up 29% over season 2. Season 3 has an estimated
632,000 viewers, which surpasses the season 1 high of 630,000 viewers.
(Viewership reflects the estimated number of viewers in a household.)
It's a complicated statistic based on the number of households,
and the number of viewers and televisions in each household. But,
compared to Season 2, the number of households watching Season 3
is up 25% and the number of viewers is up 29%. This represents the
highest total ratings ever for the show. These figures likely influenced
Showtime's recent decision to renew the show for a fourth season.
NOTE: Nielsen ratings are compiled from households only
in the Untied States.
