PAM GRIER STARS IN THE STILL UNTITLED RYAN MCKINNEY PROJECT

by Carrie Baker

CALIFORNIA, May 30, 2006 – Pam Grier is no stranger to movies.  Pam, who currently is best known as Kit Porter on Showtime Network’s The L Word, has been starring in movies since the early 1970’s and hasn’t really stopped since.  Grier became some what of a pop culture icon playing the character Foxy Brown in the exploitation film Foxy Brown in 1974.

Grier’s latest project is playing a character named Zelda in the yet untitled Ryan McKinney Project.  The Ryan McKinney Project tells the story of a couple who move into a Victorian mansion where the wife uncovers and then uses an old Ouija Board.

The movie is loosely based on a true story in the 1920’s when the town of El Cerrito, California was overtaken by Ouija board madness.  Shocked police arrested seven people "driven insane" after using an Ouija board. One girl, only fifteen and found naked explained it was because she could "communicate better with the spirits." In the following days, the lunacy spread to others in the town including one police officer who ripped off his clothes and ran hysterically into a local bank. Officials quickly held a town hall meeting and decided to bring in mental health professionals to examine the entire population of 1200. To prevent any future outbreak of "Ouija mania," they decided to ban the Ouija boards from the city limits.

The movie’s original working title was Ouija Board; however, the Project remains untitled due to the production company’s inability to afford to purchase the name “Ouija Board” from the Parker Brother’s Company.

The movie also stars Lou Diamond Phillips, Megan Ward, Victor Browne, and many more.  Ryan McKinney is credited with both directing and writing the film along with Regan McKinney.  The film is being produced by Dark Portal Pictures LLC.  The Project is currently in post production with no definitive release date as of yet.
