LUVIA PETERSEN WHAT THE L! & L-WORD.COM INTERVIEW

This interview was conducted by Kace Evers of What The L!, the L Word fan based internet radio show in conjunction with L-Word.com.

Part 1

Kace: ...I have a very special guest with me, none other than Luvia Petersen.  Now, you've seen Luvia on The L Word before.  She's made several different appearances including one as a dancing Cowboy in Season 1, in the Locked Up episode.  But you were also Dax in Season 2 in I believe the Lap dance episode.  You got to work with Pam Grier...

Luvia: Yeah, that was fantastic!

Kace: ...in one of the scenes.  What was she like?

Luvia: She's great!  She's like a ball of energy, you know what I mean, and just interacting with her and talking with her and being on set with her. We just had a ball of laughs, so it was a really good time.

Kace: And like I've said, you've made all these different appearances on the show.  In Season 1, like I said the Cowboy.  In Season 2 as Dax.  I could swore I saw you in Season 3 at one point, dancing in what I believe they called the "Tranny Prom."  Was that you or someone else?

Luvia: Yeah that was me.  I mean, it's a small gay community in Vancouver. So they kind of pulled from different sources and usually what they'll do when they're casting for a show is that they'll just kinda throw out, you know a bulk request and whoever wants to come in and do it, be it background work or whatever, then they'll welcome you in.  That's how I actually got the first role as the drag king, because I'm a local drag king performer here in Vancouver.

Kace: Oh, okay.

Luvia: So they sent out an open casting call.  I auditioned and I got in and I booked the role as the drag king Cowboy in the first Season.  And then from there, I had just so happened to be pursuing an acting career so that worked out great.  So then I got the role as Dax.  They actually wrote in that character for me specifically, because they really liked working with me.  They liked who I was and Ilene (Chakien) said, "let's just write you into the show."  And that's how it kinda worked for me.

Kace: Do you consider all these different appearances to be a complete character or just a bunch of different characters that you happen to play?

Luvia: Well, I think that it's one complete character, definitely.  I just happened to, when I can go on the show, when I can make an appearance, I do.  I've spoken to Ilene before about bringing in Dax as more of a permanent character and I'd love to be on the show more frequently if it's possible.  So, y'know...get on the emails, send them an email saying, "Hey, let's get that hot Dax back on there," that'd be great! *laughs*

Kace: I've seen your picture at IMDB.  Very, very cute picture, I gotta say, so...

Luvia: Thanks, Kace! *laughs*

Kace: But when you're not making appearances on The L Word, what else are you doing to keep yourself busy?

Luvia: Well, I'm a full time actress.  So I'm in plays.  I'm constantly auditioning, taking acting classes, but I also have a couple of things on the side.  I run a production company and it's a Vancouver based production company.  And what we do is we throw parties here in Vancouver to promote the thriving and talented community here.  It's for queer people to have it like a diverse atmosphere where people can just get together and celebrate. It's called G Productions.  We actually have a web site if I can throw that out there.

Kace: By all means.

Luvia: Okay it's http://www.gplayproductions.com and the "G" stands for pretty much anything that "G" can stand for.  Gay, Girl, Guy, Goodtimes, you name it.

Kace: I know you're up in Canada right now, in the Vancouver, British Columbia area.  But be that as it may, have you had a chance to see Season 3 yet and if so, what did you think of it?

Luvia: Well, I've seen like little snippets here and there.  But I gotta be honest, I haven't seen the whole show so you probably know way more than I do as far as what's going on.  What has been going on? *laughs*

Kace: Where do I begin...?  That depends, do you want me to spoil you with this or not?

Luvia: Actually, you know what?  I'm gonna save it, because you guys (in the United States) get it before we do.

Kace: Yeah, I know.  It's unfair, but I don't make the rules.

Luvia: *laughs*

Kace: If it were up to me, we'd all get to watch it at the same time...

Luvia: In the same place!  We could throw a big L Word party!

Kace: Yeah, I think up in Canada, it's Showcase Channel that carries it.

Comments: "But I would bring back Dax as a full-on character and have a full drag king troupe in The L Word,"Full on character? Such a modest wish she has. I want to wake up next so Sarah Shahi every morning but I don't see that happening any time soon.No offence but 2 page interview with someone that was an extra? Is Otto interview coming up next?

Comments: thanks kace for the interview, love to hear other peoples experiences of working on the show even if they're not main cast members, hope ilene does bring in dax as a full on character that would be cool

Comments: Full on character? That's exactly what the L word needs, extras becoming full characters*roll eyes* I wouldn't mind her playing Max instead of that God awful Daniela. I'm sure we will all pretend like Daniela as Max never existed and embrace her as Max. I'm almost positive she would do a better job than Daniela, hell Angelica is a better than DS.

Comments: I don't know if I agree with her drag king character becoming a main character, because I think if anyone would want a drag to come back, it would be Ivan! I mean, everyone wants Ivan back. Come on. I was shocked to see a interview with someone I recognized to be an extra, but it was cool to get an insight on how someone who has a smaller role in the show looks at it. I don't know why some people were so harsh with their opinions of this interview, because though it wasn't with a main character like Sarah Shahi, it was still an interesting to read... in my opinion. I think Kace has a lil Crush on a certain drag King as well ;)
