The L Word Ladies – Up-close and Personal: Laurel Holloman

They captured your attention on the TV screen. They made you laugh, they made you cry and, occasionally, they made you scream at your TV. But whatever emotions the ladies of The L Word evoked in you, they are the ones who keep you coming back every Sunday night when the show airs on Showtime and inspire you to travel all over the world to attend different fan and signing events.

My latest travel adventure brought me up-close and personal with five amazing and delightful women that one way or another evoked some strongest and often unexpected emotions in me. It made me realize that the cast members love The L Word as much as we do and because of that I, personally, would like for this show to go on forever, even if sometimes I don’t like where some storylines are going.

This show still remains one of the kind and all of the cast members are very special to their fans. So, without further ado, let me introduce the ladies of The L Word whom I recently met, talked to and learn a lot from. They are: charming and hilarious Leisha Hailey, gorgeous and adorable Laurel Holloman, shy and mischievous Mia Kirshner, lovely and big-hearted Kate Moennig, and beautiful and talented Guinevere Turner.

And that’s why in 30 years Laurel sees Tina and Bette living on a farm in Vermont. Tina is growing organic vegetables, Bette is painting and creating her own art instead of getting off on somebody else’s art. They have another kid besides Angelica, and they treat each other with respect.

It is a wonderful prediction because, as a Tibetter, I would love to see Bette and Tina working out their problems. Since Season 1 this couple grabbed my attention. Since loyalty is one of my better qualities, or maybe curses, even after everything they went through and so many people gave up on them, I still want them to be together.

Ilene Chaiken, The L Word Executive Producer and Creator, wants to show a lot of drama that can happen to a couple who is already struggling. Laurel said that Jennifer called her one day and she was crying and said, “I just watched youtube and it’s so sad, we have to get back together.” And Laurel watched some TiBette videos as well and was crying too. She also mentioned that the videos made by fans sometimes have better music and better editing than some of The L Word episodes.

What are Laurel’s feelings about her storyline and going back to men? She said that when Ilene told her about it she said to her that she didn’t sign up for it. She was thinking that maybe Tina will go back to Helena or get a new girl, but it was important for Ilene to tell this story. Ilene had a friend who gave birth to a baby and then went back to men. And it happened to a lot of Ilene’s friends. Bette and Tina were fighting a lot, they had a lot of stuff to go through, and Ilene wanted to show drama. Ilene thought it would be boring if Bette and Tina just stayed home, took care of the baby and did nothing, even though Laurel herself wouldn’t mind seeing this.
