With the season 4 currently filming in Vancouver to be released earlier in 2007, Showtime and Press announced an appearance of several newcomers who will spice up another season of highly acclaimed lesbian drama The L Word.
One of those newest additions is Kristanna Loken, an actress and a former fashion model.
According to her mini-biography from Wikipedia.com and AskMen.com, she was born in 1979 in New York to a writer Chris Loken and a model Rande Porath. She gets her looks and an unusual name from her grandparents on both sides all four of whom were born in Norway and immigrated to America.
While growing up, Loken attended both private and public schools and since her early years she began trying several activities, such as singing, acting, dancing, and horseback riding. The latter became one of her favorite hobbies and, as mentioned on AskMen.com, Loken “has ridden across much of Hawaii, Ireland and Namibia, Africa.”
Loken began her acting career in 1996 when she appeared on one of the episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and several other television shows and films. However, she is more known for her roles in Terminator 3 and BloodRayne where she played opposite to Arnold Schwarzenegger and Michelle Rodriguez.
According to her fan site Kristanna.com: the true source for all things Kristanna, the actress is 5’11”, she has 6 tattoos, her favorite show is Soprano’s and she grew up on the picturesque fruit farm.
As her latest movie has been recently released on the DVD, Loken gave several interviews talking about her latest projects and her career.
In Manila Standard Today interview in January 2006 the actress was talking about BloodRayne (newest film from a former The L Word writer Guinevere Turner)where Loken plays a half-human half-vampire who is going though her life’s journey as she finds out the truth about herself and “coming to terms with it and dealing with all the repercussions.”
When the interviewer asked her to name one thing she feels very strongly about, Loken replied, “Truth. Being truthful with yourself, with your feelings, with other people and really just trying to come from that place as much as you can and being aware of it, being aware of why you do certain things or what affects you in a certain way and just trying to evaluate that to the basis of your truth.”
Loken definitely is staying true to herself in her personal life as well. In her Curve interview also in January 2006 she openly answered question about her sexuality. That issue came up after Loken has been being spotted kissing singer Pink in Monte Carlo.
Pink was talking about the kiss in her interview to The Sun Online. “Talking about last month’s passionate kiss with Kristanna at the World Music Awards in Monte Carlo, Pink insists: “She kissed me and she tried to dominate me and I will not be dominated by anyone … People can say what they want but I have good taste. I mean, look at her. Wow. That woman is beautiful.”
So, when asked about her sexual preferences during the Curve interview, Loken replied, “I have dated and have had sex with men and women and have to say that the relationships I have had with certain women have been much more fulfilling, sexually and emotionally, than of those with certain men. I connect with an aura, with energy. And if the person with whom I connect happens to be a female, that’s just the way it is. That’s what makes my wheels turn.”
And Loken will have fans’ wheels turning as she joins The L Word for its fourth season. According to Daily Variety, she will appear in 10 episodes “playing a single mother” opposite Kate Moennig (Shane).
