#10 - Joyce Wishnia
We kick things off with our resident Lesbian Civil Rights Lawyer, who among her accomplishments include trying to get it on with a pregnant and distraught Tina while Tina was staying in her guest house, advising Bette some time later in what would be a legal battle against Tina...and there's also that whole thing where she had her picture taken with Bill Clinton.
Why The Angst?
She's bad news, man. Bad news.
#9 - Tonya
Ah, Tonya...one of the more entertaining characters to grace The L Word, but her appearance came at a price. That price would be her hooking up with Dana and then being engaged with her. And so the angst began.
Why The Angst?
A lot of people still think to this day that Tonya had something to do with the death of Mr. Piddles...and she was with Dana at a time when so many fans were clamoring for Dana to be with either Alice or Lara. Ultimately, Tonya's just a victim of circumstance, I guess. As for the cat killer thing....maybe they'll solve that one day.
#8 - Gomey
Mark's ace sidekick and bad influence. He was really into the whole hidden cameras thing which Mark finally agreed to do, which would wind up setting off an amazing chain of events with Jenny, Carmen and Shane.
Why The Angst?
Well, he's a blatant pervert and at the very least, he's a tad creepy. Given all that and his influence on Mark, he's not exactly a well liked character.
#7 - Roberta Collie
She's stern, she doesn't mince words and she's danger in a wheelchair. I guess working for the State or whatever could be a bit stressful, come to
think of it. Especially a state governed by Schwarzenegger. During the course of Season 3, she's very critical about the idea of Bette getting to
adopt Angelica over various concerns.
Why The Angst?
She's in the way of Bette/Tina happiness!!! BOOO!!!!!! TiBette 4-EVAR!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, I pick because I love, TiBetters so it's all good. ;)
#6 - Jenny Schecter
I've received hatemail from Jenny fans before...I imagine this will cause more. Now granted I'm not the biggest Jenny fan in the World either, but
allow me to explain. It's how well Mia Kirschner plays the character. Jenny's got not just issues, but a lifetime subsciption and Mia does very well at portraying that. With that said...
Why The Angst?
Think of the sheer amount of heartbreak and sorrow this one woman has blazed a path of in her 3 years in West Hollywood. That alone's caused plenty of
angst, along with her Neverending Victim Card.
#5 - Tina Kennard
She shouldn't be on here as far as I'm concerned, but let's be honest here. With so many people coming down hard on Tina over hooking up with Henry, her
place on this list cannot be denied.
Why The Angst?
Some of it is similar for the angst some once had towards Bette when she was sneakin' around with Candace (which caused the TiBette shippers to form
Denialville out of defiance of the storyline). To put it bluntly, Bette and Tina ain't together. Tina's in a relationship, therefore, the people are
unhappy with her. Throw in the aggravated damage of Tina being with a guy, which throws in more of that Anti-Bisexual theme that tends to rear itself
on the show and you've pretty much got a lot of people pissed at Tina. So here she is.
#4 - Amy Ziff
As a BETTY fan, it kinda pains me to put her on the list, but I'm a fair man. Amy's most notable for her Season 2 romp with Phoebe Sparkle and the
various cameos she's made with the rest of BETTY.
Why The Angst?
A lot of fans hate BETTY. But hey, a lot of people also hate Jeff Gordon and he's doin' alright.
#3 - Moira/Max Sweeney
Jenny got herself a buddy. A buddy who was originally Moira...a rather butch gal who pissed while standing up. Then she became Max who wanted to
be a man. The occassional romps with Jenny as well as Billie, along with her/his odd character overall, Max became something of a sore thumb, the
likes of which made even Lisa The Lesbian Identified Man pale in comparison.
Why The Angst?
The angst towards Max has transcended to hatred towards Daniela Sea who portrays the character. God knows, I've read plenty of comments about
Daniela's acting, but the fascinating thing is that I've actually met people who talk JUST LIKE THAT!!! Eh well, angst is angst and Max and Daniela have
certainly garnered plenty of it.
#2 - Henry
Tina wanted a man...along came Henry. And there ya go.
Why The Angst?
Henry's a nice guy, but it appears no one's really interested in Tina being with him. The whole thing with Henry is that he's just in the way of
something a lot of fans, especially the TiBetters want and that's Bette/Tina and the happy ending. There have also been comments made about Henry's
looks, including his back which according to some is...how can I put this....not very photogenic.
And topping the list of the Negative Reactions...
#1 - Elizabeth "EZGirl" Ziff
As a fan of BETTY and someone who's had some pretty good chats with EZ, this one kinda sucks, but...I think this pretty much speaks volumes as it
concerns the level of hatred some L fans have had. EZGirl has become the Dale Earnhardt of The L Word. She's very popular and very unpopular at the
same time. Either way, she's got notereity and sometimes, that's all you can hope for. She's made some appearances on The L Word, which have been
happily received by BETTY fans and um...not so happily received by the Anti-BETTY Crowd.
Why The Angst?
It all started with the Theme song for some and it just went from there. It came without warning and the shellshock would have a lasting effect.
Then came the cameos, along with the unique Score work in Season 2 and suddenly, EZ became L Enemy #1 for many. The angst continued and further
fueled with Season 3 and now on the verge of Season 4, the Anti-BETTY Crowd doesn't appear to be letting up. At the same time, EZ herself doesn't
appear to be, either. And so we have a battle of wills that continues to escalate online through emails, chatrooms and message board posts. And
through it all, EZ's faced it off with a simple smile and a shrug.
