March 13, 2006Kate Moennig will appear this spring in the
off-broadway play, Guardians, at the Bleecker Theater in
New York. The play is produced by The Culture Project, a theater
company "committed to presenting dramatic works that explore
today's defining social and political issues." Guardians,
written by Peter Morris, is a two-character monologue that provides
a fictional account of the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in Iraq, as
told by Spc. Lynndie England and Piers Morgan, editor of the British
newspaper The Daily Mirror, who resigned after publishing
fake pictures that resembled the infamous Abu Ghraib photos. Golden
Globe-nominated actor Lee Pace will play opposite Moennig as Morgan.
Moennig is no stranger to the stage. She spent two seasons with
the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Williamstown, Massachussetts,
and performed in As You Like It, Comedy of Art, The
Theory of Total Blame and Morning in the City.
Guardians opens at 45 Bleecker St. on April 11, 2006 and
runs through May 25. Tickets to the 199-seat theater are available
online through www.cultureproject.org.
