| Diane: I just
make it up in my own head…I don’t remember if
Katherine was definite that there had been any kind of abuse,
but I think that Emaculata was not owning her sexuality, so
that when Simone was younger, Emaculata was sometimes inappropriate.
There was an attraction she couldn’t deal with, but
I don’t think she actually did anything. That’s
my fan fiction!
myFandoms: For both of you--Any fears of being typecast
as a lesbian? Is there any kind of character
you can’t see yourself playing? Or movie you just don’t
see yourself making?

Diane: I don’t believe in “career”
decisions. I’ve heard people say that their agent or manager
would advise them to do something or not do something…I don’t
believe in that. But I wouldn’t do anything exploitive. I’m
not a big fan of horror because I think the message in it is really
destructive. But other than that, I can’t think of anything
I’d be afraid to do.
Erin: I agree with that. I wouldn’t want
to do porn or horror.
myFandoms: Erin — If Kat (or any other director/producer)
were to walk up to you now, would they still say “You’re
"SOOOOOO shy"?
Erin: I’m still shy…
Diane: (jumping in)... I’m shy
too!
Jacky: Yes, you both definitely are.
myFandoms: Diane—You had said in an old interview
that you had left acting for a while. What made you leave it behind,
and what drew you back?
Diane: I left acting for a while because I couldn't
take the rejection and the competition, and I really didn't feel
that what I had to offer, that this "commodity" called
Diane Gaidry, had any perceived value in the entertainment industry.
And it all seemed very inorganic and out of alignment for me. I
think that that world breeds and feeds on superficiality and insecurity
rather than nurturing and appreciating the unique beauty in each
individual. But I still loved the experience and the art of acting,
so I would act in friend's short films and in student films. And
eventually, some of my friends and my husband directed feature films,
and I was fortunate enough to work in those which led to more people
seeing my work and asking me to be in their projects.
myFandoms: Erin—will you be doing more theater work,
or are you just sticking to film now?

Erin: I would
love to do more theatre although it is not my focus at the
moment. Yet if I were given a chance to be in a good play
there would be no hesitation. I love being on stage, there
is nothing like it. Markus and I, along with two other friends
Mike Myers and Mike Laurie are co-creators and producers on
a project called The LA Cafe Plays. It is theatre
written, directed and acted all in one day. It happens he
third Sunday of every month at the Ruskin Group Theatre in
Santa Monica.

myFandoms: For you both, what was your favorite scene in
Loving Annabelle?
Diane: My favorite scene? Hmmm. I don't know that
I have a favorite. But I really love the scene between Annabelle
and Colins on the stairs. And I love the character of Kat, she cracks
me up. I also like the scene where Simone and Michael break up.
And I think that Katherine did an amazing job with the love scene.
It's beautifully lit and shot and edited, and I think that it's
very sexy and romantic.
Erin: I have two, and I am not in either of them.
1: The breakup scene with Michael in the car... I know, I know....
all you lesbians hate that scene, but I love it. The other is when
Jake (Kat's brother) is playing at the dance. Jake is my brother
from another mother, and seeing him perform just makes me happy.
We’d like to thank both Diane and Erin for an incredible
interview. The four of us interviewing them are Loving Annabelle
fanatics, and it was wonderful to see how invested they are
in the movie—two years after having filmed it. We thank them
on behalf of all the Loving Annabelle fans.
