LOS ANGELES, May 2, 2006 - Jennifer Beals (The L Word & Flashdance) is currently filming the upcoming theatrical production, Troubled Waters. Beals, who portrays alpha lesbian Bette Porter on Showtime’s The L Word, stars as Jennifer Beckett, an FBI agent who is called in to investigate the kidnapping of multimillionaires Julia and Mike Water’s daughter. Beckett and her partner discover a plot by Julia’s ex lover to kidnap the girl and fear that they are too late to save her. What they don’t realize is that their daughter is still living…with the kidnapper.
Troubled Waters marks the first starring role for Jennifer since 2005’s release Desolation Sound. This could be due in large part to the birth of her first child, in October 2005 with second husband Ken Dixon and being a stepmother to Dixon’s first two children. Beals has also been spending some time doing something she really enjoys, photography.
Troubled Waters is being produced by Peace Arch films in partnership with TwoThreeFive films. The film was written by David Robbeson and is directed by John Stead. Peace Arch Entertainment Group Inc. produces and obtains films and television programs to distribute to world markets. Their Archetype Films focuses on horror, thriller, and action pictures. Peace Arch entertainment is also one of the leading distributors of DVDs and other products in Canada. |
