LOS ANGELES (February 21, 2006) - Showtime will air the television
premiere of All We Are Saying, a documentary produced, directed,
and acted in by Rosanna Arquette, on March 8 at 8 p.m. Arquette
uses her Hollywood access to interview some of the biggest names
in music about the current state of the music industry. Often shot
guerilla-style using hand-held video cameras with little lighting,
the film shows Arquette conducting candid interviews that are revealing
and insightful.
"I love music and wanted to sit down with some of the people
I admire, and discuss what keeps them going - the balance between
art and life, the state of the art of music today and what inspires
them," said Arquette.
Some of the 55 artists interviewed are:
- David Crosby on how A&R reps at the present handful
of media conglomerates "
wouldn't know a [good] song
if it flew up their noses and died."
- Steven Tyler discussing how internet downloading has
greatly diminished the Aerosmith catalog value.
- Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders on wearing a nursing
bra while rocking out onstage.
- Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M,
on why hip-hop has trounced rock 'n' roll, and how Dr. Dre and
Snoop Dogg are today's Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.
- Joni Mitchell reveals why she feels one of her biggest
hits as a songwriter, "Both Sides Now" (made famous
by Judy Collins), is a failure and how contracting polio compelled
her to become an artist.
Arquette, whose acting career spans almost 30 years, guest starred
in season 2 and season 3 of The L Word as Cherie Jaffee,
who has an affair with Shane. All We are Saying premiered
at the 2005 Tribeca Film Festival in New York and is a follow-up
to Arquette's widely praised documentary film, Searching for
Debra Winger (2003), about ageism in the male-dominated entertainment
industry.
