About 1,200 lesbians filled the Atlanta WetBar to capacity on Thursday for the Season 4 Premiere of The L Word. Cast members in attendance were Daniela Sea (Max) and Dallas Roberts (Angus). The event was co-sponsored by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and Showtime, in what has truly become a mutually beneficial relationship. For example, for a limited time, any new subscribers to Showtime will be reimbursed for a one-year HRC membership ($35); not to mention that the proceeds of last night’s event go to HRC. A wonderful symbiosis.
Anyway, doors opened at 7 pm and I arrived at 6:15 pm, following instructions to be there early, even though I had special press access. The line of women already snaked around the block waiting for the doors to open. The first woman in line had arrived at 4:00.
Since I had covered the event last year, I was allowed into the VIP room early. The VIP room is a smaller bar off to the side of the main dance floor, set behind glass doors.

| It also has a separate entrance, useful for celebrities. It’s a chic, comfortable area with several large television screens, sofas, and gigantic bowls of chocolate kisses, peanuts, and M&Ms. It also has its own bartender, a huge plus in a crowd this size. Assorted freebies like key chains and T-shirts were spread throughout the VIP room. You can only get in the VIP room with a special bracelet they slap around your wrist when you enter. |

I lounged around, talking
to Melissa Carter, a well-known local lesbian DJ. Melissa
made headlines several years ago when she had a kidney
transplant, and openly talked about that and her lesbian
relationship on her morning radio show. Melissa is now
involved in “Radio with a Twist,”
a gay radio show that airs on Sunday nights before The
L Word. More on that later. She’s a sweetheart,
darn cute, and hilariously funny.

Comments: It was awesome! My partner and I attended the event last night, and wow! We were one of the ones that barely made it into the Wetbar, but because we waited we got to meet the characters Max and Angus. And shortly thereafter, we got inside to see the premiere. I just want to say a big thanks to everyone. We really appreciate the L Word.

Comments: I attended the NYC premiere. Jennifer Beals was greeted with thunderous applause and screams. The Copacabana was pretty much packed with a sea of lovely women. No palm trees or swimming pools but it was the next best thing to a Dinah Shore weekend. We had two bands play but the sound system left much to be desired. When the episode aired, it was so difficult to understand the dialog, just trying to was a distraction and so we left after the first ten minutes. Maybe next year, Showtime will rent a movie house as it did with Liza with a Z which was much more preferable.

Comments: Hey I was at the NYC premiere also. Yeah that was incredible wasn't it, how everyone applauded for Jennifer? I never heard applause like that in my life. And I was applauding as loud as everyone else. She was so beautiful and sweet and funny. if you left after the first 10 min of the show you missed it when Marina came on...before they even showed her face, all you could see was her hat and everyone started screaming like she was there in the room(again me included lol). It was a great night, I was so happy to be there. My ex got some pics of Jennifer too, I think she sent them to me, I am going to go check now. :)

Comments: I was in Atlanta then, but didn't attend, then again Angus and Max are NOT to of my favorite characters in the show. I have nonething against the actor, bit I.C. & company where SOOOOOOO WRONG for casting him as a love interest for Kit. I think BOTH Kit and Pam Grier deserves better. Can a Big girl get a FINE or better looking man for some lovin'? That can't be all there is in Canada, they shopuld have checked out thew cast and extras of Soul Food.

Comments: I did attend the Chicago Season 4 party, I thought it was okay. It would have been great if a cast member would have attended. Is Max the only cast member who takes time out to attend these events?

Comments: Correction, Max and Jennifer Beals usually attend these events. I think a cast member should have been at each party in every major city. I know some of them are working other jobs; however it would have been a treat.
