Another year and another convention in England, this time it will
be held in Blackpool. Honestly, before I heard about it, I had no
idea where Blackpool was. In high school I was pretty good at geography
and had to memorize the capitals of every country in the world,
including Africa and Asia. Why? I have no idea but it comes really
handy when I’m playing Trivial Pursuit.
However, even though I don’t really need to know every capital
in the world to be happy and have a good job, the geography skills
became important to me when I tried to find Blackpool on the map.
If you already know about it, you can skip to the end of the article
to find out what to expect at the L3 Convention. If you, like me,
ask yourself, ‘Where the heck is Blackpool and what can I
see while I’m there?’ here’s a little tidbits
of information.
According to the Blackpool
Official website, this city has a lot to offer for your spare
time, if you will be able to tear yourself away from the convention
grounds.
“It’s a town full of firsts: taller, faster rollercoasters,
bigger clubs, even the biggest mirror ball in the world plus world-class
shows, cosmopolitan restaurants, vibrant nightlife, an active sports
scene and breathtakingly beautiful scenery on Blackpool’s
doorstep…traveling along the Promenade, at the heart of Blackpool's
famous Golden Mile is the Sea Life Centre, home to more than 40
fascinating displays allowing close encounters with marvels of marine
life and 2005 sees some deadly additions to the display with the
UK's only collection of poisonous sea snakes…nearby is one
of Blackpool's oldest attractions, Louis Tussaud's Waxworks, inviting
you to meet the famous and the infamous in its many galleries.”
If you’re going only for the L3 Convention then you still
will have a lot of fun. This year L-Event Convention will be held
at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool. The three-day convention
will feature guests’ talks (Leisha Hailey, Kate Moennig, Erin
Daniels and Eric Mabius had been announced so far), photo and autograph
sessions, competitions, and parties.

Comments: For the LA event you will not have to worry so much about the smoking. In CA it is illegal to smoke in a public indoor venue. So, that should help your lungs out a bit.

Comments: I'm actually glad about that law in the UK. I was a smoker when I went to L2 and man it was overkill at LHR in that smokers' lounge. Take one breath and you've just had a whole pack of cigarettes. I was worried so much smoke after not smoking for the past few months would make me really sick.

Comments: guys, as someone from the UK I feel I should warn you not to be too excited about Blackpool, it's kind of a dated seaside town.....Lots of old people!Haven't got a clue why they are hosting the convention there.Brighton would have been soooo much better as that's the UK's gay capitol. Anyways, the main attraction is the L word girls - that's the important thing!
