#608: "Last Word"

"Wake up! Time to die!!!"

-Axl Rose

Previously on The L Word...everything.

Showtime Presents, the end. Our omega begins with Shane being interrogated
by Police. Shane hates when couples say, "we." She defends herself
against the notion of killing Jenny. Shane describes (and we're shown) a
camera greeting from Shane and Jenny to Bette and Tina who are soon
departing.

The L Word. Greatest opening title sequence ever.

The Planet, where Alice is ready for Tasha and Jamie to admit their
feelings for one another. Jamie and Tasha have the same tastes and are way
too alike as their orders indicate. Jamie assures that's nothing has
happened physically, but it's all about the thoughts and feelings. Jamie
finally comes clean about her feelings for Tasha. Alice thanks her and
then gives the, "Fuck you." Jamie doesn't want them to break up. Man,
those third wheel crushes are a real pain. Alice wants Tasha to try things
out with Jamie and gives her until tomorrow to figure out what she wants.
And she leaves.

Alice's interrogation. The only person she ever loved as much as Tasha was
Dana.

Helena and Dylan are in the midst of some melodrama. Dylan got kicked out
of her home and needs to place to stay. Helena wasn't expecting that and
Dylan wasn't interested in moving in, but was hoping for the invitation.
Cursed mind games. Jenny's there, by the way to shoot a tribute video to
Bette and Tina. Tension, lots of tension, especially with Helena. We
finally have Helena and Dylan doing their video toast thing.

Max's interrogation and Max kinda looks like a man from the late 1970s with
that hair and mustache. It took a while for Max to get used to the Group
Of Friends and vice versa.

Bette and Kit where the ledge isn't secure yet. Hint? They talk about
things, including the idea of Bette adopting Max's child, but Max seems
ready and Bette's not pursuing it. Kit asks about New York City and
Bette's ready to go with Tina and most of all ready to get away from the
melodrama of West Hollywood. Bette defends her not having an affair with
Kelly and Jenny's accusations otherwise.

Kit's interrogation as she puts over the Group Of Friends as her crew of
togetherness.

We're jumping all over time here.

Alice and Shane drink beer. Alice still doesn't care for Shane being with
Jenny for obvious reasons. Shane tries to explain her reasoning of being
with her as taking care of a lost child. And a little more arguing between
them.

Alice's interrogation and women drive her crazy. And don't even get her
started on lesbian identified men.

Back to the conversation between Alice and Shane for a bit.

Dylan's on the phone and it's all mysterious. Helena is curious of who she
was talking with. Suspicion...torrrrrments my heart.... More melodrama
between those two.

Being rich is a curse according to Helena in her interrogation.

Dylan is walking away and Helena gives chase. Helena apologizes and admits
that trust is hard for her.

Back to the interrogation. Helena used to buy and sell people. Okay.

Dylan wants Helena to trust her. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand they make out. At
one point, Dylan breaks out a knife to test the trust level. Too much
testing between these two.

Jenny does some editing and this portion is Helena's message to Bette and
Tina, in particularly Bette, explaining their bad vibes in Season 2.

Phyllis and Joyce's message and they're so happy together.

Bette goes down on Tina. Well, it's the last episode, so get the TiBette
goodness in while ya can. Tina mentions the railing thing needing fixing.
Hint? Odd thing to mention during a moment like that. More storytime with
the Happy Couple.

Bette's interrogation. Tina's the love of her life.

We get a new take on a familiar scene from Pilot in Season 1 as we get the
next morning. Bette and Tina together and Shane walks by. Things have
matured a bit for these ladies and we get to storyline stuff as Jenny is
using Shane's studio. Bette posits that Jenny gave Shane the studio just
so she could have something else to take from her. Bette and Tina don't
know about Jenny's project for the get-together.

Tina's interrogation. She goes over the slight jealousy over Kelly. Xena:
Warrior Detective is part of the interrogation.

Helena watches Dylan finish up a phone chat and hastily get in her Jeep.

Alice and Shane talk over the phone. Alice goes over how Tasha and Jamie
are compatible or too alike. Jenny shows up with Sounder The Sequel.
Shane's gotta call her back. Jenny is manic in making sure she's able to
get all editing done by tonight. Shane's going to help out and Jenny feels
better.

Next door, Kit and Sonny, now apparently together arrive with Angelica,
back from the zoo. Sonny's gotta change into Sunset and Tina offers their
bathroom as a place for him to change. Bette's a little uneasy about men
using her bathroom. Wow, someone had bad experiences with men. Kit's
amused. JAMES!!! James arrives for whatever reason. Just so he can
appear in the last episode, I guess.

The studio where Jenny and Shane are bonding over editing. Shane leaves
off to help take care of Jenny's needs. And Dylan arrives.

James wishes Bette and Tina well and maybe James can get a job in NYC for
Bette...assuming Bette has one to offer. Sunset arrives, about to depart
for Hit Club...it's a Hit!!! Angelica calls him, "Daddy."

Alice and Helena talk on the phone and Alice unknowingly clues Helena in on
Dylan being at the studio. Dylan is probably helping with editing since
she knows a thing or two about it.

The studio where Dylan wants Jenny to cover for her. Dylan was able to
clue in on Jenny and the scheme and that she in turn knew about the test
before it. Helena arrives in time to hear that. And now there's no trust
as some sense is made out of this convoluted thing. Dylan's departure from
Max's baby shower was dramatic, but it was Jenny's idea. Helena blames
Jenny, but can't trust Dylan. So I guess they're broke up.

Again.

Well frickin' damn.

At some store where Shane spots Molly with another girl. Molly's
galpal's kinda cute. She has no name however so whatever. So Shane and
Molly catch each other up and Molly has been able to rebound and move on
with her life and become a better person. She also brings up the note that
she left for Shane, but Shane never got. Shane probably had one more
chance to be with Molly, but not getting the letter nixed that. Shane has a
look of horror at what Jenny's done.

Onto the last night, where it all comes to pass.

The Group Of Friends are there. Bette, Tina, Alice, Helena and Max. No
Shane or Jenny yet. And as Alice indicates, no Tasha. Apparently no Dylan
either.

Max's interrogation as he mentions Jenny accepting him.

Helena's interrogation. And so on.

Jenny and Kit talking now and Kit has a bone to pick with her over the
whole Bette & Kelly thing. Kit wants proof and Jenny offers what she
thinks is proof and it throws Kit for a loop given the viewpoint Jenny had.

Bette's interrogation. And so on.

Shane searches for the long lost letter. She finally makes it up to the
attic and finds the letter. She reads it and is taken aback by the
contents. Then comes another discovery...the Lez Girls film negative.
Holy crap, Jenny apparently did steal it. Shane's turned upside down from
all of this.

Tina's interrogation and she's asked about Lez Girls Le Girls The Girls
Girls Girls Girls by Motley Crue...or whatever.

Tina warns the friends about the railing not being done. Hint?

Tasha's interrogation and she puts over Alice's heart and her wililng to
take risks.

Kit shows up needing to talk with Bette for a moment. Helena, Alice and
Max walk downstairs.

Kit talks about what she thinks she saw from Jenny's video and Bette once
again defends herself. Bette gets angry.

Shane brings Tina to her house next door.

Alice and the others are looking for the rest of the party.

Niki's interrogation. Xena: Warrior Detective mentions the Group Of
Friends looking out for one another.

The party where Jenny invites everyone to the media room for the video.
It's three hours? Wow.

Tina is shown the stolen film.

Jenny wanders up to the missing railing area. Hint!?!?!? Bette shows up
and they argue over the obvious. Bette's going to defend her family that
she's put together. She delivers a not-so vield threat to Jenny.

Bette's interrogation. Jenny's complex and talented and self destructive
and sometimes very generous, but definetly complicated and complex.

Tim's message in the video! Cool to see him. Tina's pissed at Jenny and
is ready to put her out of her misery. Oh snap.

Alice and Shane now as Alice is ready to forgive Jenny. Alice doesn't want
to lose her friends, especially Shane.

Alice's interrogation and she asks about, "Who killed Jenny?" and Xena
pounces kindasorta. Before that can continue...

Bette and Tina and they need to talk, but no one's seen Jenny. Max got his
first fetus kick and feels pretty good about that. Max hasn't seen Jenny.

Sounder's at the pool.

Angus!!! Holy crap. He's in New York City and is ready to welcome Bette
and Tina.

Ivan!!! Ivan's moved on with her life and is hitched with a woman now.

Peggy has a message.

Jodi even delivers a message.

Marina!!! She delivers her message from France. Amazing how that got
pulled off.

Carmen!!! What would make Carmen's message better was if she was there
with Lara, but sadly there's no Lara. Well, I guess the rumors about
Carmen being part of Season 6 were kinda true after all.

As we get Jenny & Shane and then Kit, Alice goes to find Jenny. Shane's
message. And Alice. The Group Of Friends together to Bette and Tina. And
then Jenny & Shane again. Alice is back and she's crying and it's about
Jenny. As we have Jenny on the screen saying, "I love you guys."

Back to the beginning of Season 6 as we're caught up.

But wait, there's more.

Niki's apprehended, hiding out near the pool.

The Group Of Friends and here's Niki. If the towels are any indication, it
was Bette and Shane who tried to dive in and revive her.

Tasha arrives and she's going to be with Alice forever. Xena: Warrior
Detective needs everyone to go to the Police Station. The Group Of Friends
are tight knit.

And the last words are spoken through the video from Jenny.

"Okay. That's it."

We get the opening credits to the view of everyone showing up in the
parking lot.

And from here, we break the fourth wall.

So it all ends with no real idea of what happened to Jenny and this beloved
series reaches its conclusion.

Kinda weird seeing it end, especially like this.

So as we say buh-bye to The L Word, I want to thank Jacky and everyone at
The L Word Fansite for letting me be a part of the fun here. The show has
been a big inspiration and a part of my life for the past five years and
Jacky has been a guardian angel of mine from the beginning. I'm forever
grateful.

"Thank you for six great seasons!"

And thank you.
