Summary
The L Word Episode 505 - LOOKIN' AT YOU,
KID
_______
Party over here!
Previously on The L Word, stuff happened and a couple of women kissed.
Showtime Presents...the cast of Lez Girls introducing themselves for
their
first script reading together. Jenzilla feels like celebrating before
destroying Tokyo later in the day. Adele's there and she's adorable.
The opening montage. Blaaaaaaaaah blah blah blaaaahhhh and love!
The Planet at nights as old music plays and Bette and Tina have one of
those bump into each other moments. Tina's been avoiding Bette. Gee, I
wonder why? For some reason, I'm havin' Alice & Dana flashbacks here,
which would make Jodi Tonya. They're tryin' to figure out a time to talk
about...THE KISS!!! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN... But they're havin' problems.
Tina wants them to just talk when they talk. Aaaand she leaves, as
TiBetters prepare to protest!
Alice's apartment, with a sports report in the background while Alice
talks
with Tasha. Daryl Brewer (from the closet party the previous week). Some
guy named John Amaechi just came out of the closet while in the NBA, making
him the first to do so and now, Daryl's comments on the sports report.
He's wearin' a blue practice jersey so I'm guessin' he's with the Clippers
for the sake of argument. Daryl does the usual anti-gay BS as he does
an
extreme impersonation of Tim Hardaway.
Sorry...gotta do this...
*pause*
For those of you unfamiliar, here's how this works in real life. The
second Daryl makes it to the, "t," in, "faggot," while
uttering his
anti-gay message on Live TV, he goes from being an NBA player to a former
NBA player. Why? Because David Stern is Commissioner of the NBA and ever
since the Pacers Vs. Pistons Brawl in 2004, players have been a short
leash
not to be stupid in public. Just wanted to point that out, though it'd
be
great to get Stern's comment on this scene. Ya just know he's watchin'.
*unpause*
Alice/Tasha acknowledge his hypocrisy. Amazing they didn't do some sort
of
censoring with the f bomb there.
Shane rides by the Lodg...er...SheBar and says hi to Cindy. Shane points
out the Drive Thru that was Kit's idea and now a SheBar innovation. Cindy
comes onto Shane as I try to stay awake. Is it just me or is Shane kinda
boring this year? Sexcapades and some humor notwithstanding. Shane's
gonna meet Cindy for some ass and candy later.
Some dressing room as Adele helps Niki into different dresses while Jenny
looks on. Niki talks about bois (as opposed to boys) as we continue to
educate the non-demographic portion of the audience. Jenny talks about
some novel (can't be bothered to care, sorry).
Jenny & Shane's house, as Shane listens to whatever on the headphones
and
makes illegal brownie perfection. Adele arrives and scares Shane without
meaning to. Suddenly, we've replaced The L Word with Weeds. Adele
mentions something about her father that possibly contradicts something
earlier and Max questions Adele about it. But Adele's quick with ane
explanation, so it's all good. Alice arrives and Adele departs. Max
thinks there's something not right about Adele and it gives Alice an
opportunity to a hypocrite in her own right as she sucks down some Haterade
at Max's expense. But it's not about that. It's about Alice's latest
podcast.
Alice In Lesboland (she got Elizabeth Ziff to record her theme...nice).
Alice talks about the stuff she agreed not to ever talk about from the
Closet Party. In it, she outs Daryl (and consequently the people in the
background who are also in the closet, but they never really harp on that
in this episode, because we, the audience are stupid and aren't supposed
to
think about these things). The podcast is uploaded.
A pimp for a TV show I refuse to watch (for those watching on Showtime)
and
Shane arrives to screw Cindy. Shane wants Ste...er...Dawn to be there
so
everything's on the up and up, but that doesn't happen. They proceed with
the makin' of the lovin'. Well, I GUESS this could count as illicit since
I'm guessin' this is what caused me to drop out of the Leaderboard in
the L
Word fantasy league. Cindy's rather softcore.
The Planet as Alice informs Kit about SheBar's underhanded tactics. Alice
is called by Max and is told that she needs to turn on the TV. Brewer
has
a home in Michigan...okay, he apparently plays for the Pistons (blue
jerseys). Brewer on TV apologizes for his comments and wants to spend
time
with his family. Alice's podcast if mentioned, along with a really nice
photo of her (when did she have time to get THAT done?).
Studio, as Niki wants Jenny's dog, Sounder The Sequel to be in the movie.
Jenny wants the dog in, too. Adele is credited by Tina for getting Niki
and Jenny for getting along and Aaron thanks her for saving the picture.
Tina's appreciative as well and asks Adele to be her eyes and ears when
around Jenny.
Alice is unable to get up with Tasha on the phone (well she is going
over
her legal stuff with Curtis, so she's probably busy).
Bette calls Tina while both are working. Bette needs Tina to take care
of
Angie (Angelica) a little later on. Tina waits for Bette to talk
about...THE KISS!!! DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNN!!! But instead, Bette talks about
Jodi's situation with the idiot kid and his soap gun. Tina offers advice,
while disappointed (judging by her facial expressions).
Adele helps set up for the party and Max goes over some possible
inconsistencies about Adele to Jenny, while Shane does Jenny's hair. Shane
and Jenny, don't really care if there's a problem with her past. Shane
just thinks Adele is sweet and is willing to give Adele a pass. Jenzilla
summons Adele The Faithful Minion to explain herself. Adele's cool about
it though and explains things (it's about her Mom being in the hospital).
Adele gets all choked up a bit while dealing with the storyline. Shane
says, "now that was some good thinking." Mmm hmm.
NTB's Hardline show with some Bill O'Reilly wannabe as host going 1-on-1
with Alice (who's last name is mispronounced). Honestly, both sides make
good points in this argument. The scroll at the bottom keeps skippin'
around, depending on camera angle. Alice doesn't feel bad about what she's
done. The problem however is that she did do something she agreed not
to,
excuses notwithstanding.
Bette/Jodi stuff now as Bette doesn't wanna go to the party next door.
Jodi however does, so they're going.
Lita Ford music plays as the party gets goin' at Jenny & Shane's.
How come
Tim never had parties like this at the house? Shane meets the girl playing
Shawn (Shane). It's a very stilted conversation. Shawn's straight!
Straight, I tell ya! She's, "gay for pay."
*sniffs*
Mmmmmmmmm, smells like in-joke!
Bette/Jodi arrive and Bette sees Tina. The tension...it mounts!
Alice arrives at the party and is introduce to the girl playing Elyse
(Alice) and they're way too alike.
Bette makes her way to Tina as the tension continues to mount! They say
hi
to one another and try to start a conversation. They're interrerupted
however by a girl named Isabella Perkins (any relation to Lara?). She's
playing Bev (Bette). Isabella then mentions having done research on Bette
and then asks a very striking question about why Bette feels the need
to
torpedo her own life. Bette's not happy. Isabella's also white, as
opposed to biracial like Bette. Bette wants to leave.
Bette ignores Jenny and goes straight to Jodi, wanting to leave, but
Jodi's
on the couch talking to some girl. Bette goes into instant jealous mode.
Bette wants to go. Jodi doesn't. So Bette leaves without her. Once
outside, Tina meets Bette and apologizes. Tina then acknowledges The Kiss
as a, "mistake," and now the Tina Bashers are back in action
again. Well,
Bette really feels like crap now, leading Tina to ask if she's in love
with
Jodi. Bette reluctantly says she is.
But I don't believe it. *wink*
Alice and Shane enjoy the illegal brownie goodness.
People get drunk while a Jackson 5 song plays. Aaaaaah, must be Jesus
Juice. Drunk singing and such from Alice, Shane and Tina. We then get
our
Party Foul moment as Dawn/Cindy arrive with Dawn highly upset at Shane
over
that romp thingy. Dawn goes off on a longwinded Rant and everyone laughs
at her. Boy, this just writes itself, doesn't it, Kace? Dawn kills the
music. Shane messed with the wrong bitch! She's messin' with a Crazy
Bitch! All this needs now is a, "Rawwwr," to be complete. "You
know what
I'm gonna do? I'm gonna ruin you."
Uh huh.
Shouldn't there be something about karma, too?
Another Showtime pimp for that show I refuse to acknowledge as Jenny
& Niki
prepare to reenact the Jenny/Marina bathroom makeout scene from Pilot.
Niki of course is Jesse (Jenny) and Jenny is Karina (Marina) here. They
wind up in the bathroom and it's onto the makin' of the lovin' between
Jenny/Niki. They wind up going to Jenny's bedroom and laughingly go to
the
closet to proceed with more makin' of the lovin'.
The party makes its way next door as people take off their clothes and
invade Bette's pool.
Jenny/Niki continue with their storytime.
The pool party is loud and Bette calls 911 to complain. Party Foul!!!
Alice sees Tasha and Tasha is pissed. Tasha brings forth the reality
that
Alice ignored, which is comprimising Tasha's situation. They yell at each
other and apparently break up. Tasha's right, though and Alice just
doesn't get it.
Adele sees Jenny/Niki and looks on for a moment before leaving.
Tina's ready to go home while wasted, but it's Jodi to the rescue. Jodi
helps Tina to Bette's home. Tina winds up out cold on the couch in the
living room. Jodie's pretty helpful here. Tina used to live there...where
does she live now??? Bette arrives and Jodi points out Tina getting really
drunk. But what could it mean???? DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!
And that's that for this week. I think at this point, Phyllis's face
might
as well be on a milk carton.

THE L WORD 506: "LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!"
NON-Spoiler Version
The production of "Lez Girls" finally begins and director Jenny
deals with all the usual headaches of filmmaking – including a recalcitrant
star and lover, Niki; Bette and Tina struggle with their rekindled feelings;
the owners of SheBar take their war against the gang to the next level.
SPOILER VERSION:
(below)
Production finally gets underway on "Lez Girls," but Jenny
struggles with location issues, an emotionally needy star, and a cast
made up of several straight actresses experiencing great difficulty feigning
erotic passion on camera with their female partners.
Working on the film as its hair designer, Shane is only to happen to
lend a creative hand by demonstrating the proper techniques for a public
display of lesbian sensuality with a willing and attractive actress.
Unable to control or suppress their desires
any longer, Bette and Tina end up in each other's arms – only to
suffer the guilt of infidelity when they realize how seriously Bette is
betraying Jodi.
The latter doesn't make things easier when she nobly offers to resign
from her professorship in order to take political heat off Bette in the
wake of a student's controversial "feigned suicide" performance
art. Phyllis is willing to accept Jodi's decision but Bette refuses to
consider the possibility.
A wild house party is a raucous good time for Phyllis until her daughter
arrives at an inopportune moment and witnesses her mother's uninhibited
behavior, driving a wedge between them even as Phyllis's high-profile
divorce from Leonard is still looming.
Shane receives a double-dose of the conniving, greedy, and slightly deranged
scheming of SheBar owners Cindy and Dawn – so she's the first to
suspect foul play when rats are discovered at The Planet and the restaurant
is immediately shut down by the health department. A furious Kit knows
it's time for the gloves to come off.
On the set of "Lez Girls," Adele's low-key but unsettling obsession
with Jenny becomes more obvious when she mimics her idol's haircut (with
a little help from Shane). Nevertheless, Adele saves the day when she
spins the revelation of Jenny and Niki's sexual relationship in a positive
direction.
