Episode Summary 411: Literary License to Kill

Kace Evers Episode Review Of Mass Destruction

Well at least they're balancing out the Tumors pimps with OurChart pimps
now...
____________________________________________________________

Previously, Helena and Catherine had misfortune at the horse racing track.
Shane misses Shay. Max has discrimination at work. Tasha has to deal with
homophobia at work. Kate's introduced as the new director of Lez Girls and
is flirtatious with Tina. Bette wants to be in a relationship with someone
who can work with her, but Jodi thinks Bette wants to be in a relationship
with someone who works for her. Paging Candace...

Showtime Presents...AHHHH, GOD!!!! Okay, Kirsten Price's "Magic Tree"
finally makes it to the show, but it's basically Papi going down on
Kit...and....it's just not working for Kit. Well, that makes two of us.
Papi's not used to that, but I have a feeling Tasha would disagree. Kit
figures she's not a lesbian. No shit?

And now, the opening sequence! Everyone sing along! Laughing, loving,
crying, screaming, fucking Tudors on my screen...this is the way
we.....something....and LOOOOOOVE!!!!! Try the fish!

Alice has apparently gotten her motorcycle license...to kill...as she takes
Tasha for a ride (as Angry Dana fans collectively grumble). The cycle's
parked and Alice wants to take Tasha to Mexico. They laugh and kiss and
talk about wanting Max to work for Alice full time. Some dude almost runs
the happy couple over and Tasha throws themselves both to safety, prompting
an Iraq flashback.

Inside the Planet now as Papi helps Kit in and Angus awaits. Angus is
reading Lez Girls. Bette's gonna be pissed, but according to Kit, Bette
can kiss her, "black ass." As opposed to the blue or green one she left at
home. Angus wonders aloud about Kit/Papi and Kit brings up Hazel.

Bette shows up for in one ugly outfit. Students walk by laughing. Well,
that's mean. Bette arrives in her office and Phyllis is reading Lez Girls,
intrigued the Bev character, based on Bette...well that would explain the
laughter outside. Phyllis tells Bette that Jodi's leaving for New York for
a project. Did I mention Bette's outfit is really ugly here? It's so
un-Bette. Phyllis is worried about Bette/Jodi splitting up and Bette
doesn't want to talk about, much like the TiBetters. Bette wants James to
get her a copy of Jenny's new book. I wonder what Stacy would have to say
about Lez Girls...

Onto Max's workplace at Intech as Max deals with the usual idiots. Max's
account for Spacegate was replaced by Megan (the girl who was about to sue
the workplace) while Max was away at his Mom's funeral. Max walks out.
Megan looks guilty, but she's really minor so we don't really delve into it.

Tasha's workplace at the base now as she talks with her superior
officer...is that Reggie Miller? Tasha's warned about that dreaded
homosexual lifestyle...and she's dismissed.

Back to Max as he asks Alice over the phone about working for Alice
fulltime to maintain the Chart site. Alice and Helena are shopping and
Shane arrives. Shane apparently stole Marina's hat in between episodes.
Catherine gave Helena her credit card so she can shop while Catherine's in
Geneva. Alice and Shave give Helena Hell over being in Catherine's
clutches, then Alice has fun with Shane possibly buying a purse, wondering
if Shane's up to her old tricks...which makes Alice feel good somehow?
Okay then... Helena's summoned by Catherine over the phone and it appears
Helena's got no place to stay tonight. It also appears that when Helena
and Tina broke up in Season 2, that Tina let Helena have her green coat as
a parting gift. They buy stuff on Catherine's card.

InTech again as Max walks back into the meeting and quits on the spot,
shaking everyone's hand. Righteous...RIGHTEOUS! Say what you will about
Max, but he's kinda rocked this year.

Leonard The Fearless One arrives at Phyllis's office...

*pause*

AAARRRGGGGHHHH TUMORS PROMO!!!! STOP IT, DAMMIT, STOP IT!!!!!

*unpause*

Leonard wants Phyllis back. He doesn't think Phyllis is a lesbian and
Phyllis takes offense. Phyllis apparently has a thing for Salma
Hayek...who doesn't, really? They argue and I feel kinda bad for both of
'em. Credit to Leonard for givin' it the ol' college try. Phyllis accuses
Leonard of having an ego problem here, but that's more heartbreak than ego.

Bette reads Lez Girls as James gets more screentime (good for him!).
What's His Name shows up and gives his seal of approval for Lez Girls and
"Bev." Bette calls Tina, who's at a restaurant. Bette's upset and Tina
reminds Bette of her attitude towards Lez Girls earlier in Season 4. Tina
tries to set Bette's mind at a ease, but she's gotta go, 'cause Kate's
about to arrive for dinner, which makes Bette even less happy. Tina's in a
suit which Kate points out. Kate has Larry Kennard (???), no relation to
Tina, I guess. They talk about Jenny's screenplay for Lez Girls, The
Movie. Jenny sucks at screenplays. Jenny sucks at a lot of things, guys.
Larry wants Kate to write the screenplay. Kate's kinda got the 1990 look
going here. They're not giving up on the script or movie and Kate throws
more obvious signs towards Tina.

Onto Jodi's classroom as Bette walks in to observe while some guy talks
about some piece of work thesis thing. Bette talks and she mentions Jodi
leaving at the end of the semester (or something). Bette and Jodi don't
talk to each other.

Jenny's house as Paige and Jared arrive to say hi to Shane. 'Bout midway
through the show and no Jenny...and coincidentally it's entertaining so
far. Shane bought Jared a masked panda. The mask kinda resembles the one
the Assassins tag team used to wear back in the day. It's not Jared's
birthday tomorrow and since this isn't an old comic book, Paige provides
this thought out loud to herself. Shane offers to take Jared to some
thingamagig, which is fine as long as Shane drops him off at the violin
lessons.

Henry's place now as Henry clips toenails, annoying Tina. We have TENSION
between the two (long overdue, considering Tina's track record). Tina gets
a call from Kate and Tina walks outside, prompting Henry's suspicion.

Max and Grace have a drink to freedom. Grace is really proud of Max and
Max is proud of himself. And so we have a makeout scene. This is one of
the more unique ones as Grace strips down (nothing unique there), but wants
to feel Max and now Max feels uncomfortable. He's not in his body yet, but
will in a couple of weeks after the transition surgery. The body feels
good enough to Grace. Now that's unconditional horny right there. Grace
wants to go down on Max...so off come Max's pants and Grace plays with
Max's artificial manhood before she (GASP) pulls it off!!! Yikes!!!! Real
or not, that prompted a grimace right there. Max has conflicting emotions
as Grace begins going down on Little Moira. Grace wants Max to come in her
mouth. Hey guys, I have an idea for the next prosthetic
penis...umm...anyway...

Bette's in bed reading Lez Girls uttering expletives towards an Jenny.
Notice how Bette didn't have a problem with Jenny 'til she was personally
insulted. Isn't that how it always goes?

Tina wants to talk to Henry. She's not happy. They're drifting
apart...like Tina and Helena were drifting apart when she was having
feelings for Bette again. Y'know, I'm not big on Tina bashing, but even I
gotta join in the chorus here. Tina has no consistency in her attractions.
Tina was so cool with Henry being a lesbian 'til now. Henry was cool with
having a hot girlfriend. They need to figure it out, but apparently
there's nothing to figure out, according to Tina. And...I guess they're
broke up now.

Alice leaves Tasha a nice little surprise. Tasha arrives and sees a gift
waiting for her. Tasha checks out the little note and a watch that Alice
(well really, Catherine) bought her. This prompts another Iraq flashback
and a rather heartbreaking one, too. The flashback involves Lisa (Tasha's
friend she served with, remember) throwing a watch away and crying as she's
told by note by her husband that he's leaving her for another woman and
taking the kid. We also get a shot of Lisa dying while in action. Tasha
gets angry and walks out and Alice is all confused.

So the next day, Alice is at the base and she waits for Tasha to ride in on
her motorcycle. She confronts Tasha about last night and Tasha's all like,
"I can't do this here." Tasha brings up being in possible trouble if her
*ahem* lifestyle is exposed. Reggie Miller rides by in a hummer and looks
suspiciously at Alice/Tasha.

Onto the break room at CU as Jodi's there and now Bette's there and they
don't talk to each other. They talk a little finally about some carton of
juice, but it doesn't seg to anything else, so Jodi walks off.

Okay...now we have Leonard bringing in Molly, Phyllis's daughter (portrayed
by Cybill Shepard's real life daughter). I wanna take this seriously, but
Molly has this, "trying not to laugh," grin on her face. She looks great,
though. Phyllis tries to explain her situation and Molly refers to Mom as
a drama queen...as opposed to a trying not to laugh during a serious scene
queen. Molly walks off with Dad. Whatever.

Paige picks up Jared from violin practice. Jared tells her he's hungry.
It's Paige's birthday today and nobody apparently remembered. So, Jared
wants to go to the Planet and eat fries. I guess fries are the only good
thing they got left since Lara's not there anymore. Lara!!!!!! I frown.

Bette and Tina share in one of those friend moments. Bette wants Tina to
tell her what makes her so impossible to deal in a relationship, so Tina
tells her. Too bad they couldn't have this chat in Season 1, it woulda
solved a lot of problems. Tina puts Bette over the "safe boring man she's
been seeing." Bette senses hope, but Tina puts Bette back on the
Bette/Jodi track. Bette asks, "Tee," about Kate. Tina admits attraction
to her. Bette's kinda amused by it. And hey, it's not a guy she's
attracted to her. Tina mentions having to fire Jenny and Bette offers to
fire Jenny for her. Ha! Tina brings up Bette having met her match in
Jodi. Tina thinks Bette's running from Jodi. Tina really puts over the
'ship and mentions that it sucked for her. Aaaaand they console each other.

Onto the Planet as it's night now. The Group Of Friends (minus Bette) as
we get our first sight of Jenny some 44 minutes in. Jenny fans complain
and nobody else does. Tasha's not there, either as she's busy at work.
Paige and Jared walks in and Kit welcomes them. Goldfrapp's there, which
is why it's so busy. Paige didn't know, but I suspect Jared might have.
Paige is welcomed by the Group Of Friends and wished a happy birthday.
Shane and Jared make a good duo.

Onto Jodi's classroom as she says buh-bye to her students. Phyllis arrives
to watch the speech. The students are in very good hands with Dean Porter
as she's made a big difference their lives, especially Jodi's, as Jodi
mentions.

Back to the Planet as Goldfrapp performs. Hell yeah. Goldfrapp rocks it
like a boogie woogie choo choo train, man. Fell in love with this group
while listening to the DEBS Soundtrack. Papi tells Alice that she needs to
talk with Tasha. Jenny thinks the singer should play Jessi (Jenny) in Lez
Girls and it appears Jenny's got a thing for Kate. Hoo boy... Angus
watches Kit get fucked up. Y'know, Kit got rid of Billie for doing this
same thing. Kit breaks down and needs Angus to be there for her.
Persistence, baby. Shane and Paige make out a little, which Jared would
just HAVE to notice.

Back to CU where Bette arrives and she's too late. Someone named Cat's
introduced for no real reason (what, did the girl playing her win a contest
or something?). Bette walks off and finds Tom packing up powertools. Tom
tells Bette that Jodi took a red eye flight to New York. Jodi moves fast.
Bette leaves. She finds herself back in Jodi's now empty classroom and
lays down on some pillows. I guess Jodi did live there.

Goldfrapp performs another song and later on in the evening, Alice is in
bed and she wakes up to the sight of Tasha being there. Tasha explains why
she can't accept the watch, bringing up the Iraqi flashbacks to her.
Tasha's in uniform (she was training nighttime). Tasha then gives us our
bombshell for the episode as she tells Alice about having to go back to
Iraq. She leaves in 2 weeks (right around when Max is heading off for
surgery).

And that's that.

Great episode this week, which leads us to next week's Season Finale. And
if you saw the previews for next week, well...you know who's showin' up. I
can imagine how that conversation went...

Ilene: Hi, Erin? Yeah...remember that whole where we killed your character?

Erin: Yeah...

Ilene: Well I was wondering if you could save the Season and make an
appearance in the Finale for Season 4.

Erin: The fuck...?

Ilene: Great! I'll see you next week!
