The opening scene shows Kit and Benjamin out to lunch. Benjamin tells her
that he usually doesn’t cross the line and spend time with students
outside of class. He tells her that he really appreciates her spending time
with him since he travels so much that he doesn’t get to see his family.
They leave the restaurant and as they are saying goodbye Benjamin leans in
and kisses Kit. She breaks off the kiss and tells him that she has to go.
It then cuts to them fumbling into bed as they are about to have sex.
Alice is helping Tina unpack and move her belongings into her new apartment.
A song that they both like comes on the radio and they start dancing around.
Alice grabs the hammer and pretends that it is a guitar and starts playing
it, while Tina pretends to be a fan in the audience. Alice jumps off the couch
in true rock star fashion and falls on the floor. When she gets up she notices
that Helena is standing in the apartment and the girls both stop. Helena drops
off some paperwork and then leaves. As soon as she is out the door Alice asks
if they are sleeping together. Tina tells her no and that she probably doesn’t
even like her like that, but Alice knows that she does.
Jenny and Shane are sitting at their kitchen table talking about Carmen.
Mark is at the sink and he overhears them talking about her and he become
fascinated that they have both dated Carmen. He then asks Shane how she gets
so many girls, to which she tells him that you just have to listen. Mark tells
Shane that she should show Jenny, to which she tells him that she doesn’t
have sex with her roommates.
Dana is sitting at the planet and it looks like she is waiting for someone.
Alice walks in and Dana looks really happy to see her. She tells Alice that
Tonya is only going to be gone for a few hours at a meeting and then asks
if they can go back to Alice’s apartment. Alice sits down and tells
Dana that she isn’t going to sneak around with her anymore. Dana looks
somewhat confused and hurt and asks Alice what happened. Alice tells her that
she doesn’t want to be her secret lover, and if she wants to be with
her then she needs to leave Tonya. Dana tells her that she can’t leave
her yet because Tonya set up this huge event for her. Alice gets upset and
walks away, but Dana calls her back to the table. Alice looks really annoyed
but Dana holds her hand and tells her that she really wants to be with her.
Alice asks if she will break up with Tonya after the tournament and Dana says
yes. Dana then slips her foot out from her shoe and starts to play footsie
with Alice.
Tina is outside her apartment getting things out of boxes and Bette walks
up. Bette asks if she can come inside but Tina tells her that she doesn’t
feel like having any company and wants to know if she came over for any particular
reason. Bette tells her that she wants to be involved in the babies life since
it’s technically their baby. Tina tells her that she has to think about
it and goes inside her apartment.
Jenny and Shane are having a little get together at their house. Carmen and
Shane are in the kitchen and they begin to flirt. Jenny walks in on them and
looks somewhat disappointed. She precedes to tell them that Mark is in the
living room filming their friends. They all walk out there and Mark starts
asking all the girls if they would kiss a guy for a million dollars. Most
of the girls say yes, and even Mark says that he would kiss another guy for
less than a million dollars. He then asks Carmen if she would kiss two friends
at the same time and she says no. Shane goes and sits down next to a girl
and they start kissing. Carmen looks up and spots them and asks Jenny to go
get some more beer with her.
Bette is at an art gallery looking at an exhibit and Helena and some other
people walk up with her. She congratulates Bette on getting someone to help
do a fundraiser for the CAC. We then cut to Bette driving up the a large house.
Her boss Franklin walks out the door and asks her why she is there. Bette
asks why he hired someone to do a fundraiser when it strictly goes against
her contract. He tells her to schedule a meeting so they can discuss it later.
Bette gets in the car and drives off upset. She calls Tina and asks if she
can talk. Bette begins to tell Tina about the fundraiser, and tells her that
Helena was responsible for it. She then asks if they are sleeping together,
but Tina won’t tell her. Bette tells her not to get involved with Helena
because she is bad news. Tina tells her that she can’t control her and
hangs up.
Dana is loading bags into her car for her trip with Tonya to La Hoya for
her tournament. Tonya walks up and tells her that she has to call a few people
then they can leave. As Dana is waiting her cell phone rings, and it’s
Alice. Dana tells Alice that she hasn’t told her yet and she needs to
stop pressuring her. Tonya overhears and asks who she is talking to and Dana
tells her that it’s her mom. Tonya goes back to talking on her phone
and Dana tells Alice that she will call her later.
Shane is at home and there is a knock at the door. When she opens it there
is a delivery woman with flowers for Shane. The women tells Shane that she
should put them in water and follows her into the house. When they get into
the kitchen they start to kiss and wind up having sex. We see Mark is filming
this whole encounter.
Jenny goes to speak with her writing teacher while she is working out. She
tells Jenny that she is getting better at being descriptive but she has to
remember that she is not the character. She asks Jenny if she has read any
of her books for her early days to which she says that she has read all her
books. Her professor says that she can tell and that she doesn’t want
Jenny trying to write like her. She gives Jenny an assignment and tells her
that she can’t speak for a whole day and then must report back to her
about what it was like.
Alice and Shane go to La Hoya to see Dana. As they are walking down the hallway
Alice tells Shane that she has to talk with Dana about breaking up with Tonya.
Shane tells her that she just needs to calm down and talk with her later.
As they round the corner they see Tonya and Alice pulls Shane back. Tonya
goes down the hallway and Shane realizes that they don’t even know that
they are there. Alice tells Shane that she is going to go talk with Dana and
if she sees Tonya coming back to call her. She knocks on Dana’s door
and an arm reaches out and pulls Alice in. We see Dana who looks really happy
to see Alice and the two start kissing. Alice tells Dana that she needs to
break up with Tonya tonight or she wont leave the room. The two continue to
talk and kiss until the cell phone rings and Alice and Dana freak out when
they realize that Alice doesn’t have an escape plan. She runs into the
bedroom and Tonya walks in. Alice pops out of the bedroom with a tennis racket
and yell s surprise. Tonya thinks that Alice came down there just to support
her friend and says that it’s very sweet.
Jenny and Carmen are walking up to Jenny’s house and Carmen asks when
the silence assignment ends.
She keeps talking and then asks if they can go out again later when Jenny
can talk. Jenny looks down at the ground and then Carmen lifts her head up
and kisses her. Jenny then goes inside and starts writing a story.
Mark is talking with the “delivery woman” and we find out that
he paid her to sleep with Shane. She is somewhat hesitant about letting him
use the footage for his documentary because she says that Shane was really
nice to her. Mark tells her that he’d really like to use it and that
he is even somewhat jealous. The girl asks if he likes Shane and he says no,
but he is fascinated by her.
Dana is playing in the tournament and Alice, Shane and Tonya are in the stands
watching. Tonya notices that Melissa Rivers doesn’t have any water so
she walks away to get her some. When she leaves Alice asks Shane to read something
for her. It’s a script that she wrote for Dana to break up with Tonya.
Shane reads it and tells her that she can’t give it to Dana because
it‘s just wrong. Alice looks annoyed and tells her to give her better
advice or keep quiet.
Bette decides to go to Benjamin Bradshaw’s workshop with Kit to support
her. During the lecture he starts talking about vulnerability and Bette starts
to write down some notes. When it’s over Benjamin comes up to them and
asks what Bette thought about the workshop. She says that a few things he
said hit home like the part about being vulnerable. Benjamin then tells her
that it has to deal with Tina and the baby and Bette gets upset because Kit
told him about it. He tells her to go to Tina’s with some flowers and
tell her that the cards are in her hands from now on.
Alice and Dana are outside the locker room discussing how Dana is going to
break up with Tonya. Alice says that she has a script and Dana reads over
it. She tells her that she can’t say the things on there, so Alice tells
her just to do an improv. Dana says that she can’t do it, and Alice
tells her that she believes in her. Dana smiles and then walks into the locker
room. When Dana is in the locker room Tonya walks in and they both tell each
other that they need to talk about something. Dana goes first and gives a
great speech about how she confused gratitude for love and that if they get
married it will be a mistake. As they are talking Melissa Rivers walks in
looking for Tonya. Dana asks if they can have a minute and Melissa says that
she is shocked at how well Dana took the news. Dana looks confused, and then
Tonya finally tells her that her and Melissa are in love. Dana looks shocked
and Tonya and Melissa leave the locker rooms together.
Tina is at the Peabody foundations annual dinner for the grant recipients.
Helena is on the opposite side of the table talking with someone. She gets
up when the conversation is done. Tina’s cell phone rings and it’s
Helena telling her to meet her by the pool. When she goes down there, Helena
seduces her and they wind up having sex in the pool.
Bette picks some flowers for Tina and goes over to her house. She knocks,
but there is no answer so she calls her cell phone. However Tina is in the
pool with Helena so she doesn’t answer it. Bette winds up leaving them
on her front porch with a note on it.
Alice, Dana and Shane are all in a car driving back home. Shane is in the
back seat and looks between the two and then starts to laugh.

Note: This episode was to say the least...weird. With that said, on with
the show!
Pat Benatar... Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Alice and Tina in Tina's new apartment. Well, that whole thing with staying
at home again in the guest room didn't last long. Ever get the feeling that
something happens between these episodes that we just have to assume for ourselves?
Either that, or it's a good way to inspire FanFic Writers to come up with
their own conclusions. Alice <3 Cheesy Early '80s Pop. It's not one of
Pat's better songs, but it passes okay.
Stars... The Vanishing
Jenny and Shane discuss Carmen and Mark interacts. Some of that mellow alternapop
sound that makes for good background music as Mark and Shane have a meeting
of the minds in front of Jenny.
Kia Kadiri... Back 2 Love
At the Planet as Alice meets up with Dana and gives a sort of ultimatum to
Dana about Tonya. The song's alright, especially if you're into Modern R&B.
Paloma... Chocolate Cake
Jenny's place as Carmen's in the house (literally) and having beer fun with
Shane. I wanna find this radio station that Jenny and Shane listens to. The
song's alright. By the way, the song continues as we join Mark and the frienship
crew. A quick political rant about the Republican Party occurs for whatever
reason. I'm sure that makes Rudy Giulliani feel better. Back to the song though,
as it plays well with the group of people at Jenny's.
Ross Garboushian... Kemence Dance
Bette and Helena have a quick chat as Bette finds out about her new consultant.
Didn't hear enough of the song to gauge a proper response, but it works well
in art museums if nothing else.
Monistir... Life Is Long When You're Lonely
ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!! Here, Shane is obviously set up, but the blonde gal looks
nice so I can't really blame Shane in that sense. It's nice to hear a good
rock song on L. Nothing against the array of R&B and Alternapop as I call
it, but it gives more of a variety that I like a lot.
Hipjoint... What She Is
Playing as Jenny meets up with her teacher, who's taking care of excercise
stuff as we go right back to the Modern R&B. I wonder if Hunter knows
Mark or Gomey.
Ladytron... Playgirl
The setup of Shane continues as this Season 2 Soundtrack number (and a song
I absolutely love, by the way) plays on in the background...and the Not-So-Dynamic
Duo of Mark and His Idiot Sidekick, Gomey watch on thanks to the Hidden Camera.
Gomey's a pervert in the basic nature. Mark has more of an intrigue factor
in his perverseness.
Quick Product Shot Note. Last year, Miller Lite was everywhere. This year
though, it's Heineken. For the record, I'll drink either.
Schubert... Allegro Moder (String Quartet in A Minor)
This occurs as I'm continuing to laugh from the previous scene (overall weirdness
aside, Dana's free now and that's all that matters). Helena has a get-together
and this string arrangment plays in the background. As I've probably said
before, music like this usually works well in restaurants and dinners. I probably
wouldn't care to hear it much otherwise.
Everything else on the show is score related and EZGirl did her usual decent
job on that end. To reiterate, this show was weird and took a couple of viewings
to comprehend...especially the last scene with Alice, Dana and Shane, featuring
Shane's laughter. And that's the show for this week.
