Lies, Lies Episode Summary

Jenny gets all decked out to go to The Planet and is unnerved by Tim's decision to accompany her. She finds herself distracted by Marina's attention and follows her into the rest room. Their hot and heavy make-out session in one of the stalls is interrupted by Tim, who remains oblivious to what is transpiring between them.

Dana panics when she has a particularly intense sexual experience with Lara. When she confides in Alice and Shane, she reveals that she fled her apartment in embarrassment and fears that she may have ruined things with Lara. However, when Lara unexpectedly arrives at The Planet bearing a single red rose, all is quickly forgiven.

Tina takes an early pregnancy test and celebrates the positive results with Alice and Kit. After receiving assurances from them to keep the news of their early knowledge a secret, Tina calls Bette and begs her to come home for dinner telling her that it "is really important". Bette, stressed by her inability to secure an exhibit for the gallery's spring show, promises to "try" but is generally dismissive.

Tim is dismayed when Jenny receives a call from, Nick, an old college professor and agrees to have dinner with him. Jenny assures Tim that she is not naïve enough to fall for Nick's charms and that his jealousy is unwarranted. In an effort to reassure him, she initiates sex with Tim all the while fantasizing about Marina.

Alice, still shattered by her break-up with Gabby declares her desire for some "uncomplicated boy-girl sex". Her interest is piqued when she meets Lisa, a "lesbian identified man" who is a friend of Shane's. Their meeting is interrupted by a call from her mother Lenore who reveals that she is in Los Angeles and in need of Alice's assistance. Alice is forced to bail her mother out of an obscene hotel bill and agrees to drive her to a meeting with a prestigious film director whom Lenore claims to be working with. Upon further inspection, Alice discovers that the "prestigious" film her mother is auditioning for is actually a B-movie slasher flick. Later, Lenore regales the group with stories of her "illustrious" film career and embarks on a mild flirtation with Shane.

Bette returns home to the surprise of her life when she discovers Tina's positive pregnancy test results on the table. She is clearly overjoyed as the two celebrate the happy news. The celebration is quickly tempered, however, when Bette discovers that she was practically the last person to know and lashes out at Tina. Tina explains her need to "share a moment" with someone. The pair re-connects as they get their first glimpse of their baby.

Tim reprimands Trish, a star member of the swim team, for her tardiness. He confides in his coaching partner, Randy, about his suspicions regarding Jenny and her college professor. Upon returning home and discovering Jenny's absence, Tim goes to Nick's hotel in search of Jenny. When Tim confronts him, Nick assures him that his relationship with Jenny is strictly platonic.

Bette arrives at an unscheduled meeting of the CAC Board of Directors convinced that she is about to receive the ax. Peggy Peabody unexpectedly storms into the meeting and threatens to pull "Provocations" which unbeknownst to Bette, she has agreed to lend to the CAC, if Bette is fired from her position. The Board agrees and Bette's future with the museum is assured. She returns home to celebrate the good news with her friends and family.

Kit receives a terse communication from her estranged son, David

Jenny receives some particularly harsh criticism from her college professor over her latest story. When he asks her where her "edge" has gone, she decides to reveal the details of her affair with Marina. Following dinner, she goes to The Planet and retreats to the office with Marina while Alice and Shane look on curiously. When Tim arrives in search of Jenny, Alice interrupts the pair in an intimate moment and helps Jenny escape unnoticed through the back door.
