Limb From Limb Episode Summary
Bette arrives for work at the CAC and glimpses Candace pulling into the
parking garage. She gets into Candace's car and tells her to take her
somewhere. The pair arrives at a hotel where Candace must remind Bette
not to use her credit card for fear of discovery. As they make their way
up to their room, Bette pulls Candace in for a passionate kiss. As they
clumsily make their way into the room, Candace succeeds in getting Bette's
shirt unbuttoned while Bette quickly undoes Candace's overalls. Candace
pushes Bette back onto the bed, climbs on top of her, and pins her hands
above her head. When Bette tries to reach up and kiss her, Candace tells
her "You can't always be in control", causing Bette to laugh.
Candace then kisses her way down Bette's stomach and the two have sex.
Jenny and Robin lie in Jenny's bed. Jenny invites Robin to the opening
of the Provocations exhibit but Robin reveals she has a date that she
is not looking forward to. Jenny admits that she has a date with Gene,
prompting Robin to admit her jealousy. They begin having sex and are viewed
through the window by a stunned Tim, who comes to deliver the paper.
Tina and Oscar find themselves in need of a plumber and a carpenter to
help with a refurbishment project. Tina suggests Candace for the job and
obtains her number from James. When Candace arrives, Tina asks her if
she knows why she wants to speak with her. Candace admits her ignorance
and when Tina details the project's needs, Candace breathes a visible
sign of relief and agrees to participate.
Steve Jaffe meets Shane outside of her new salon and mistakenly accuses
her of sleeping with Clea. He tells her that he and Cherie are not comfortable
with the idea. Shane runs off and arrives at the Jaffe house where she
is greeted by Clea, who admits that she told her parents about her interest
in Shane. Furious, Shane drives up to the house and runs inside to confront
Cherie who screams at Shane to leave. Shane tries to reassure her of her
loyalty and declares her feelings for Cherie. Clea arrives and spots the
pair crying and embracing and runs off with Cherie following closely behind.
Tim drops by to tell Jenny that they need to get a divorce. She agrees
to meet with an attorney.
Dana is overwhelmed with emotion at the death of Mr. Piddles. Alice agrees
to help her arrange a funeral.
Kit and Ivan arrive at the CAC bearing lunch for Bette. Bette questions
Kit about the situation with Ivan, reminding Kit that Ivan is in fact,
a woman and is madly in love with her. Kit assures her that the relationship
is strictly platonic but Bette remains unconvinced.
Gene and Jenny visit the aquarium on their date. They hit it off and
after sharing a kiss at the manatee tank, go to his office to obtain a
close-up view of the seals. While there, Jenny takes the lead and initiates
sex. She begins to cry, which perplexes Gene and causes him to stop. When
she breaks down sobbing, he agrees to take her home.
The girls stage an elaborate funeral for Mr. Piddles at The Planet where
they observe the scary similarity of Dana's and Tanya's outfits while
Shane continues to leave desperate voicemails for Cherie. As Dana expresses
her appreciation for her friends' support, she reveals that her and Tanya
are engaged. The girls, needless to say, are stunned speechless.
Bette picks a fight with Tina about her utilizing Candace for the community
project. She declares it a conflict of interest and exploitation of her
generosity. When Tina tells her that Candace seemed happy to do it, Bette
calls Tina selfish and storms out of the bedroom. The next morning, Bette
is awakened from her sofa slumber by Tina's racket in the kitchen. As
Tina attempts to make a quick exit, Bette stops her and offers a tearful
apology for her behavior, attributing it to the stress of getting the
exhibit ready. Tina half-heartedly accepts the apology and coldly declares
that the two have been out of touch for a while. Bette assures her that
it will be over as soon as the exhibit opens. After Tina leaves, Bette
begins asking herself what she is doing.
Shane camps outside of the Jaffe house in her car and is told by a police
officer that the Jaffes have taken out a restraining order against her.
Jenny awakens to find Gene sitting nearby watching her. He expresses
understanding about her mental state given the difficult situation she
is currently in. When Jenny admits that he is the first man she has tried
to be with since Tim, Gene suggests that perhaps she is not interested
in men. Jenny disagrees and they declare their mutual liking of each other.
Tim spots Jenny giving Gene a hug goodbye and angrily storms into the
shed demanding to know who he was. He explodes at her, declaring their
entire relationship a lie and suggests that she move out.
Ivan continues her courtship of Kit who is deeply conflicted about her
emotions. She admits that she likes the way Ivan makes her feel but at
the same time, doesn't feel right about where the situation may be heading.
When Kit tries to convince her to find someone who can give her what she
is looking for, Ivan questions Kit about what SHE is looking for and how
she can be so sure that Ivan can't give it to her.
Bette continues her preparations for the Provocations exhibit at the
CAC. She becomes incredibly distracted at the sight of Candace and tells
James that she needs time alone in her office. She leaves her office door
slightly ajar and as Candace enters, begins fiddling with her wedding
band. As Bette goes to shut and lock the door, Candace comes up from behind
and wraps herself around her. Bette turns to face Candace and as they
start kissing, undoes her pants and guides Candace's hand into them.
Jenny begins writing an autobiographical piece about her conflicting
selves and is interrupted by Gene, coming to pick her up for the Provocations
opening.
In the shower, Bette experiences a breakdown and slides down to the floor
where Tina finds her. As she helps Bette up, she observes how exhausted
Bette seems and encourages her to fall apart later, assuring her that
she will be there to take care of her. Bette expresses her need for them
to try to have a baby again. Tina tells her that she needs some more time
to recover. They share a kiss but when Bette reaches for more, Tina pulls
away, kissing her forehead instead.
Ivan arrives to accompany Kit to the opening dressed as "Ivan".
Gene and Jenny run into Tim and Trish at the opening where Tim makes
a derogatory comment about Jenny's sexuality. As Gene educates Dana and
Tanya on the mating habits of various forms of sea life, Robin approaches
Jenny. When Jenny discovers that Robin's date for the event is Marina,
her and Gene quickly retreat leaving Robin to wonder what is going on.
Dana and Tanya are once again dressed alike. When Tanya pulls Dana away,
Alice voices her suspicion that Tanya was responsible for the death of
Mr. Piddles. Tina and Shane encourage her to drop it and Shane storms
off in a cranky huff.
She goes outside for a cigarette and comes across Steve and Cherie Jaffe.
As she attempts to approach Cherie, she is intercepted by Steve, who threatens
her life if she ever comes near his family again.
Candace compliments Tina on her beauty and Bette quickly swoops in to
offer her agreement. The two are introduced to Candace's friend, Mikela,
but the awkward situation is cut short when a board member summons Bette.
As her and Tina retreat, she turns back and casts a serious glance at
Candace.
Shane finds Cherie alone in a secluded area of the exhibit and pours
her heart out to her. Cherie tells Shane that her feelings were a delusion
and despite what may have passed between them, she couldn't be expected
to leave her cushy lifestyle for a kid who has nothing to offer.
After saying goodbye to Kit and Ivan, Tina begins searching for Bette.
She sees her through a window talking very closely with Candace. As Bette
turns to leave, she touches Candace's hand intimately and in that moment,
Tina knows.
Down in the parking garage, Ivan serenades Kit with a rendition of "I'm
Your Man" which moves Kit to tears.
Jenny and Gene return to Jenny's to find Robin waiting. She swears she
did not know whom Marina was when she agreed to see her and was planning
on breaking it off anyway. She suggests that Jenny listen to her voicemail
which she couldn't help hearing while she was waiting. Jenny discovers
an apologetic message from Marina who declares her love for Jenny and
asks for another chance. Both Gene and Robin offer to leave but Jenny
asks them to stay.
As Bette hangs her jacket in the closet, she sees Tina reflected in the
mirror, sitting on the sofa in their room, staring at her. As Bette turns
and makes her way over to her, Tina stands up and says, "I know.
I saw it". Bette attempts to hug Tina but is shoved away. When she
offers an "I'm sorry", Tina's face contorts with sadness and
she slaps Bette, hard, across the face. Bette tries again to move in on
Tina and tells her that she loves her, eliciting an angry "Fuck you"
from Tina. Tina then flies into a rage repeatedly screaming "Fuck
you" and flailing her arms at Bette. Bette attempts to regain control
of the situation by grabbing Tina and pushing her face down onto the bed.
As Tina strives to wriggle out from under her, Bette pins Tina's arms
above her head and attempts to calm her by kissing her and repeatedly
telling her that she loves her. Bette then rips Tina's dress open and
tries to initiate sex while telling her that she's sorry. Tina manages
to flip herself over so that she is facing Bette but is unable to get
free from Bette's hands pinning her down to the bed. As Bette tries to
kiss her again, Tina continues to cry and tries to resist. She finally
manages to flip Bette over so that she is on top and quickly pins Bette's
arms above her head while repeatedly screaming "Fuck you". She
then leans in and bites Bette in the face and chest, causing Bette to
scream in pain. Tina then begins kissing her and takes Bette's hand and
forces it between her legs. Both women cry as they have sex ending with
Tina collapsing on top of Bette and whispering, "Hold me".
Jenny, Gene, and Robin spend the remainder of the evening playing board
games. After the two fall asleep, Jenny sits and ponders.
Alice arrives at Dana's apartment in the middle of the night begging
Dana not to marry Tanya. When Dana asks her why, Alice hesitates but then
kisses Dana. Dana seems a bit taken aback but quickly reciprocates pulling
Alice in for a kiss that becomes very serious. Flustered, Alice runs off
leaving Dana standing on her stoop.
Shane sits in her car outside of her now non-existent salon wondering
what could have been.
Alice returns to her apartment to find Tina sitting alone in the dark.
Tina apologizes for letting herself in and while fighting back the tears,
asks Alice if she can stay with her for awhile. When Alice presses her
to reveal what has happened, Tina walks over to Alice's Lesbian Love Connection
chart. She takes a marker, draws a line from Bette's name, and manages
to write "CA" before being overcome with emotion. As she begins
to sob hysterically, Alice pulls her into a hug. As Tina clings to Alice
for support, her hands come around Alice's back. Her left hand is free
of her wedding ring.
