Biography

A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and an alumnus of Chicago's Piven Theatre Workshop, stage and screen actress Laurel Holloman made her film debut as one of the eponymous teenagers in Maria Maggenti's The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love (1995). She subsequently found leading and supporting roles in films ranging from Bart Freundlich's The Myth of Fingerprints (1997), in which she played a member of an emotionally dysfunctional family; to Boogie Nights (1997), Gavin O'Connor's Tumbleweeds (1999), and Loving Jezebel (1999), which cast her as the married object of a young man's crush. ~ Rebecca Flint, All Movie Guide

After her first year of college, moved to Chicago to work with the Piven Theatre Workshop. Studied with John Lynn in Los Angeles; was cast in David Orr's independent feature "Blossom Time." Moved to New York in 1994; began acting off-Broadway in "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" at Theatre for the New City. Also performed off-Broadway in Julia Jordan's "Night Swim" at Playwright's Horizons. Has studied at the British American Dramatic Academy in London. Mother of Lola Reiko Macherey, born November 4, 2004. Her real life pregnancy was worked into the script of the 2005 season of Showtime's "The L Word".
